Read, Write, Create! – Session 1: Telling Stories of Summer
Grades 3–6 (Ages 8–12)
Led by: Emily Cook & Cassie Galletta (Local Bookworms & Educators)
Runs weekly (3 sessions total) — Sundays, July 20th, July 27th, and August 3rd from 12-2 PM at Gunks Gaming Guild Cafe, 17 Church Street, New Paltz, NY
Session 1 invites young writers to slow down, look closer, and turn their observations into stories. Through guided readings, writing prompts, and collaborative discussion, kids will explore the season as both setting and inspiration, where even the smallest detail can spark a narrative. Whether imagining a dream vacation, capturing the sound of cicadas, or finding wonder in the ordinary, this workshop nurtures voice, curiosity, and play. Together, we’ll read Matilda aloud, create space for personal reading journeys, and encourage each child to see themselves as both reader and author, recognizing that each story is worth telling.
A meal and drink are provided each week!
For more information, email Emily at emilycook0819@gmail.com.
Each week, you'll receive an email with important details—including supplies needed, food options, and any program updates. Please keep an eye on your inbox to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for your child.
